When Should You Replace Your Car Wrap?

When Should You Replace Your Car Wrap? brand it wrap it

As durable as car wraps may be, they don’t last forever and will need to be repaired or outright replaced if given enough time.

We all know that a car wrap can be a fantastic way to advertise a business on a work vehicle. As durable as car wraps may be though, they certainly don’t last forever and will need to be repaired or even outright replaced if given enough time. The best thing you can do as the owner of a car wrap is to familiarize yourself with the common signs of wrap damage; that way, you can tell whether or not it’s time to replace your car wrap. Here are some of the most common telltale signs that it is time to replace your car wrap.

Staining

Exposure to all kinds of liquids can cause permanent stains, especially if those liquids aren’t immediately cleaned up. This includes coffee, soda, juice, wine, and whatever might usually cause stains. Vehicles are exposed to even more stain potential with tree sap, bird droppings, and insects all potentially causing stain issues on your car wrap as well. Once these stains are set into a vehicle wrap, they can be very difficult to remove. At that point, it may even make more sense to replace your wrap outright, especially if you have several smaller stains or one large unruly stain to deal with.

Fading

Since vehicles are typically out and about, they also get exposed to plenty of sunlight. All that sunlight exposure can cause a vinyl car wrap to fade over enough time. You may be able to mitigate some of that damage by parking under cover or in the shade of a nearby tree, but some amount of fading is likely if you’re daily driving your vehicle. Faded wraps look unprofessional, may create negative impressions on your potential customers, and can even become difficult to read. If your wrap is fading, it may be time to invest in a replacement.

Peeling

As a result of external tears, dirt buildup, or impacts, a vinyl wrap may eventually begin to peel. It’s also possible that the way you’re washing your vehicle—either improperly with a pressure washer or via a high-pressure car wash—may be causing that peeling. Stick to recommended cleaning methods in the future, but peeling can get a lot worse quickly. Repair the peeling as soon as possible; otherwise, it may need replacement.
